Can you explain these salon/ hair terms to me?

I'm planning to get highlights but I really don't know what all these terms mean. If you could help at all, I'd appreciate it!

single process tint

virgin tint

hi-lift tint

frost

foil

fillerCan you explain these salon/ hair terms to me?
single process tint- is a simple method of using coating or penetrating tints on all of the hair, while using one of the above mentioned color types: temporary, semi-permanent or permanent colors, to achieve a solid color look. If you never colored your hair, you must use the virgin hair coloring technique . If you previously colored your hair, you must use previously colored hair technique

virgin tint- the color application .must start at 1 - 1 and 1/2 inches away from the scalp and from the ends. The root area (at the scalp) processes fast due to the body heat, and ends process faster due to the high porosity of the hair. After processing the hair for 15-20 minutes, apply the color to the rest of the hair, making sure it is completely saturated and process for about 25 minutes. This is the only time, when hair gets deposited on the whole shaft first.

frost- Hair frosting is similar to highlighting. Each can be used to best effect on different hairstyles. While frosting involves bleaching of individual hair strands, tipping is all about bleaching only the end of the hair. Frosting the hair involves giving an overall salt and pepper look to the hair. Hair streaking is more pronounced when compared with hair highlighting. The effects of hair streaking are striking, since there are bands of color. In the highlighting process, the blend between colors is subtler

foil- foils (the most accurate type of highlighting, but tedious and time consuming technique)

filler- even out the beautiful color of your hair to give you a gourdous ballance

ps my mom is a beauticianCan you explain these salon/ hair terms to me?
of corse i can help

as far as i no a single process tint is just 1 colour all over your hair, but we dont use that erm in my salon so im not 100% on that.

virgin tint- is a tint that is used on virgin hair. (virgin hair is hair that hasnt been treated or colourd before)

hi-lift tint- a bleach used like a tint so it lightens hair.

frost- is just verry fine highlights often appalyed with the hilighting cap and usually verry light in colour or verry ashy!

foil- foil is like strips of tin foil that is used in the highlighting/lowlighting or colouring process.

filler- there are 3 tipes of fillers,

1s that condition hair keep them in good condition

root die can also be classed as a filler.

good luck.

What ';terms'; should i know before going in a hair salon?

i usually get my haircut at home but i am going out to a hair salon to get a haircut this time. What do i need to know before getting a hair cut? (terms and educate), im going to a cheap place like Clips, nothing speical. e.x. styles, need to tip?, etc. thanksWhat ';terms'; should i know before going in a hair salon?
i know for sure to bring a picture (if you have one) of a model, somebody, or anyone that has the hairstyle you want, because if you just tell the persno what you want usually they dont get it right unless you have a picture, unless you're a really good instruction giver. lol.

and, for the styles, im getting mine layered.. it might look good?

What are my rights if a hair stylist(@ a hair salon) messed up my hair and wouldn't give me a refund?

I live in Texas. Licensed hair stylist messed up my highlights so bad, they looked like cheetah spots all over my hair. One thick piece of highlight trned green and had hair fall out in a small place on scalp that left a bloody spot for about a week. I called hair stylist and she avoided me and got the owner of the salon to call me back. Owner was very rude and un-coperative. Told me I would not get my money back! But that I could come in to get it fixed....I said no way! I had to pay to get it corrected and I want to know my rights and if I have a chance in winning in Small Claims Court in Texas. What are my rights if a hair stylist(@ a hair salon) messed up my hair and wouldn't give me a refund?
you CAN take it to small claims court, but unfortunately, it's not worth it. i was so close to taking my ex roomates, i went to the clerk of courts and found out all the info i needed. you have to PAY to take them, i forgot exactly how much, and then besides the main fee, there are a few other fees. also they're not REQUIRED to show up, like a normal court date. if they dont show up, all that can really happen is a portion of the money rightfully owed to you will come from their next pay check, to you, if the judge issues it. and it will only be as much as what you paid. which isnt even worth it because you'll have paid more just to take them to court. What are my rights if a hair stylist(@ a hair salon) messed up my hair and wouldn't give me a refund?
If the owner did not handle this situation to your satisfaction, it may be worth a small claims court trip. A reptable salon should have insurance to cover such claims. Investigate our options locally. There may be free legal advice available in your area.

I do hope you documented your experience by way of photos. This kind of experience is not one any salon would want to be known for and it is a shame the salon owner made no effort to make good on this situation. It is possible that your stylist was a booth renter, in which case the salon owner is not liable for her actions and has no control over her assets or fees charged (to my understanding) as the stylist is considered an independednt contractor within her salon. In this case, you should be dealing with the stylist directly.

Weigh the benefits here versus the cost of filing the claim. Will you be paying more for the chance at getting reimbursed than it's worth?

I am apalled to hear that a professional, salon owner at that, treated you this way. I wish you the best of luck!
ok im a hairstylist ......and really you should have went back into the salon to get it fixed.......thats what salons do .......(redo's)....and if you already got it fixed,,,,,,,there is no proof...not really worth ur time
You may have to find out where to look this up, cuz, I don't know, but, in Washington state, you have up to 7 years to place a lawsuit against a hair salon. So, you could take lots of pictures and go to court. She should have fixed it for free, not wanting to make you pay again. That is not right.
well of course they should fix it i find it strange that they won't but i find it hard to believe ur story now the cheetah spots maybe but thats weird bleach never turns hair green so that is not true maybe orange but never green the problem is you have too much damage in ur hair and too much dyes i just know it...you need a good cut and to go darker for a while no more bleaching

I live in Queens, NY.I am trying to open a hair salon. Does anyone know where I can purchase good quality used salon equipment?
Try to contact different hair distributors, they normally sell new and second hand as well. The best thing is to find a beauty salon that are closing. You can also find some in e-bay. I remembered that 2 years ago I bought some in there. I own a salon too, that's why I know this places. Good luck with your new venture.I am trying to open a hair salon. Does anyone know where I can purchase good quality used salon equipment?
Discreetly check with your hair stylist where she got her stuffs from and ask her to connect you with them. Another source is to look for about to close salon, they usually sell all there products (locked, stocked and barrel) at good pricing.
    ebay
Call a Beauty Supply Store and they will give you info
Look for shops that are closing down and buy their stuff, beauty supply distributers and wholesalers, and the Internet auctions such as E-Bay.

Do you like having your HAIR WASHED at the Salon?

Does your hairdresser ask if you want a shampoo or do they just do it?Do you like having your HAIR WASHED at the Salon?
I like getting my hair washed at the salon, it's relaxing %26amp; feels good! Most stylist just wash it, because usually that comes w/ the hair cut, %26amp; it's easier to comb %26amp; cut hair that is wet %26amp; has just been washed %26amp; conditioned. With men that get really short hair cuts, or really young kids, I'll usually ask if they want it washed or sprayed w/ a squirt bottle.Do you like having your HAIR WASHED at the Salon?
they just do it, and its worth it. So Soothing. Good Luck!
I tell them wat i want...im the boss of my hair
I am a hairdresser and I always shampoo everyone...you never know the last time someone washed their hair
For health reasons, I would think the stylist would want to wash it. Also it's easier to cut when wet, not so flyaway. Personally, I love it, very relaxing.

Does your hairdresser ask if you want a shampoo or do they just do it?Do you like having your HAIR WASHED at the Salon?
they just do it, and its worth it. So Soothing. Good Luck!Do you like having your HAIR WASHED at the Salon?
For health reasons, I would think the stylist would want to wash it. Also it's easier to cut when wet, not so flyaway. Personally, I love it, very relaxing.
With men that get really short hair cuts, or really young kids, I'll usually ask if they want it washed or sprayed w/ a squirt bottle.
I tell them wat i want...im the boss of my hair
I am a hairdresser and I always shampoo everyone...you never know the last time someone washed their hair

  • Would you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?

I'm debating whether I should get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it myself at home. Most of the time I don't get them done at a salon since im very ticklish from my feet lol but im thinking maybe i should but debating salon or doing at home myselfWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
the salonWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
i used to get them done at salons, but after i got a foot tattoo %26amp; watched some horror stories on tyra of pedicures gone wrong (the salon didn't clean their tools, etc.,) i've started doing them at home. it's much cheaper, and gives you time to chill out %26amp; relax while your toes dry
well. for me eh I'm kind of neutral. i work in a nail salon. yeah i know what you talking about. lol i just do my own nails.

but i still think you should go to the salon. they paint it better.... BUT. it's expensive
i love to treat my self. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. yes my feet is also ticklish as well. but i go to same person so they know how to scrub my feet.
it might look nicer at a salon and you will have good treatment but i'm always worried about getting foot fungus or athlete's feet from someone else who went there! Also if you go tell them to go easy on your feet your very tickilish!
    Get it done, why not?

I personally never have b.c i think it's a waste of money...if you have my philosophy then do it yourself.

    :)
its funny im a manicurist, but would rather do my own, instead of pampering myself.
I would rather go in a salon than do them myself because it is more relaxing.
salon!!! they look soooo much better
Go to the salon...It's much more relaxing...Just tell 'em your ticklish, and they'll be careful around your feet.

i think you should treat yourself and go get it done at a salon!

Eyes open or closed when getting SHAMPOOED at the Salon?

Do you like getting your hair washed at the hairdresser?Eyes open or closed when getting SHAMPOOED at the Salon?
closed. Not because I am afraid of shampoo in the eye they are very careful about that but I don't like to look up peoples noses. I love getting my hair washed.Eyes open or closed when getting SHAMPOOED at the Salon?
I like to keep my eyes open if the girl has a nice open set to look at, otherwise I close my eyes.
    Silly question, it doesn't matter
keep ypur eyes closed or down, i hate when i wash peoples hair and they just stare at me the whole time!!

It depends how the hair stylist is washing your hair. If no water is going on your lower part of your forehead then you can open your eyes with out getting water in your eyes. Sometimes its better for your eyes to be closed though.
Closed. A shampoo is one of the best treats ever!

It really depends on how you feel when they are washing your hair. I always keep them open because hairstylists are very careful keep shampoo and water out of at the very top of your forehead.

I have decided to start going to a tanning salon, which type of bed would be best?

I have pale skin, I sometimes have a difficulty tanning outside, so a friend of mine told me to try a level 4 bed. I don't know how the levels work or anything, which would you suggest.I have decided to start going to a tanning salon, which type of bed would be best?
I advise you against doing this, it will make your skin turn leathery and can become physically addictive. I suggest a spray tan instead, but make sure to rub it in!

Try a low setting bed first, please!I have decided to start going to a tanning salon, which type of bed would be best?
Ohh the new fad skin cancerrr all the chicks are digging it

honestly people get skin cancer without stepping foot into a tanner, you are after all putting stronger than the sun uv rays directly onto your skin, simply because you want your physical appearance to improve

whatever happened to GIRLS WHO ACCEPT EVERYTHING ABOUT THEMSELVES?

    oh ya...they dont exist!

    GO GREEN!!!!!!
The best thing is the self tanner lotion, it last longer and doesn't make your skin all wrinkly and gross.

    Girl, being pale isn't bad.

Being tan is. You can get skin cancer by tanning.

I don't get why people tan. It's a waste of time and money, and you can WASTE even more money with the medical treatments for your damaged skin.

YOU DON'T NEED TO BE TAN TO BE BEAUTIFUL.

There are many beautiful people out there without tans. And they don't have problems with skin cancer.

    Believe me, please!

    Better safe than sorry!

    鈾?br>

I love all these other people with the witty comments! See? It's true!
I'd say all tanning bed places are the same. Whatever you do though, DON'T SPRAY TAN. I have pale skin too, and I hear it makes pale skin orange.
hm id say the one that doesnt cause cancer...oh wait
probably not the answer you want to read but ..NONE...this is a bad decision..go to the beach or but on bronzer
DON'T Pale skinned people are especially susceptible to the damaging effects of tanning beds. Have you been reading the articles lately? They are talking more and more about how much higher the risk of skin cancer goes up if you go to the tanning beds regularly. It's a serious issue and you should really think about the risk before you do that. Your healthiest option would be to use tanning lotion. If your willing to spend the extra dollars you can get a really good lotion that will not look fake, and it will still be cheaper than tanning beds.

Edit: You may not like it, but all these people on here talking about skin cancer are correct. You should be paying attention to the number of people who are advising you against doing this. Please consider not using a tanning bed for your own safety.
    enjoy your skin cancer
    none.

you'll get a tan, get a boyfriend, get cancer, get dead.

    seriously.
i would say don't heighten your risks of getting skin problems by going to tanning beds. stop trying to be like everyone else just to fit into society. conform into your own person. unless you want cancer.

  • What do i need to open my own salon?

    Hello

    How are you?

I am planning to open a beauty salon and I am not sure really what do I need to complete to open one.

Well my plan is to finish some training in facials, body treatment and waxing. What I really want to concentrate is on make-up. As an owner of a solon it would be nice to know how to do more than just make-up.

Now is it possible you can give me some advice and answer some of my questions, I would really appreciate it. My solon will offer, nail treatment, facials, waxing, hair, body treatment and tanning.

    1. Can I just open a salon with no experience in facials, but with license?

    2. I will rent 2 chairs for hair dressers, how much should I charge?

    3. Do you think it is a good idea to open one?

    4. Do you think it is better to rent a chair or commission?

Please if you have more tips for me let me know I would really appreciate your advice. And if there鈥檚 something else I should know about?

Thank youWhat do i need to open my own salon?
You really need to provide a lot more info before anybody will really be able to give you advice on how to help.

    1. Yes, you can open a salon with a license and no experience, but if you lose an esthetician are you going to be comfortable filling in until you find a replacement and most of the time make-up is a complimentary service so it may be difficult to draw a salary.

    2. I rented my chair for years and paid anywhere from $150 a week to $275 a week, it depends on your area and how upscale you enviroment is.

    3. Salon owners usually only see about a 5% profit of the entire salon revenues, it takes a lot of hard work and a GREAT reputation to make a salon self-sufficient (not having to rely on working on clients to draw a paycheck) It can be a great idea, but you will have to work on clients to draw a paycheck for yourself and cover other salon expenses for a while.

    4. Renting chairs is a safer bet in the beginning, you will get established people with clients coming into your business and during the slower seasons you will still have income. But the potential for bigger profit is in paying commission. I'd probably start out with booth rental and as the business grows, start hiring commission paid employees.

You will also have to maintain malpractice insurance and make sure that anyone that rents from you has their own. I would check on the price of that in your area before doing anything else, its not always easy for individuals to get their own malpractice insurance and not all companies want to extend coverage to contracted employees. What do i need to open my own salon?
Congratulations! It is a good idea.

Without the know-how, this will be difficult. You should complete some courses at first, so you know how to handle your staff and products.

    1. Yes. Unless your country says so.

    2. rent depends on your country.

    3. Yes.

    4. If I understand, get trained hairdressers on whatever terms. As a start, you need to establish a good reputation.

Initially spend on a good, trained and experienced beautician. You too will learn from her. You just run the place and keep an eye on everything and help when needed.

Get in touch with name brands who may sponsor many things. So you will get additional help.

Keep everything very neat and clean.

    Wish you the best.
well opening a business could be good and sometimes bad there's a lot of planning to do first.......

    * find the right location down time

    * the services u offer u would not make a huge profit if u just do make up and facial alone because not every one wants that service so u need to do a mixture of it like hair washing and treating, style, makeup etc. cause i dont think u want to but out more than u bring in at month to pay the rent

    * keep the building small until u can afford to move bigger

    * buy in bulk it will be much cheaper

    * get a small business loan from a bank an buy all the important things u want like chairs, tables etc... instead of renting when u can get ur own cause if u rent it will come up to the same price u can buy it for

    * you will need worker start with 1 or 2 in the beginning than when the business expand u hire more

    * advertising do it through posters, newspapers, radio so a lot of people will get to know the business more and what u have to offer

    * sample and coupons always to the trick

last but not least ..... service always have a smile on your face and have a television, a mini fridge or coffee they so customers can buy be occupied and not bored while while for there turn

good luck hope i helped a bit

    Simply Divine

Why not? I think of those elegant creatures from those classic 50's and 60's movies when I say the words aloud :';Simply divine, daaahling!';What do you think of this for a salon business name?
I like it a lot but I am sure someone else has the name already. Think of something unique and fun! For example a local salon in my area has a name of Cutting Up The Town! If you create a name that is fun, your salon will seem like a more relaxed and laid back type of salon. Good luck and if you are opening a business, I wish you all of the success in the failing economy!
you might want to double check on that name. cause i think there might already be a salon named simply divine. :]

  • Do you tip the owner of a hairdressing salon?

My hairdresser just opened her own ';upscale'; salon. She previously worked at other salons where she rented space and earned a commission. Now that she is the owner, do I still tip her? She collects rent from other hairdressers that rent her space.Do you tip the owner of a hairdressing salon?
no you do not tip the owner but if u want to thats up to you.Do you tip the owner of a hairdressing salon?
When my hairdresser worked out of her house, she told me not to tip her. She owns her salon, and I tip her now.

FYI - my friend owns a bar, and he used to bartend until the customer found out he was the owner and stopped tipping him. We perceive the owner as getting a bigger slice of the pie, and therefore doesn't ';need'; the tip money.
If she is still doing your hair, yes, you tip her.
    Yes, I do.

You should too, especially since she just opened a new salon she has many expenses and overhead.
Yes - she is providing you a service.
If she worked on your hair yes.
if she does your hair then you tip her, if she has other stylist and they do it then you tip only the person who does your hair.
I would if she did a good job.

How can i remove nail polish from my salon fake nails ?

they put so many coats and polish on it

and when i use nail polish remover it doesnt work

any ideas ?How can i remove nail polish from my salon fake nails ?
Use nail polish remover that does not contain acetone. That is Acetone-free. Regular nail polish remover with acetone will loosen the glue and disolve the nail, resulting in a rough surface or the nail coming off. People who want to remove their nails use this nail polish remover to take acrylics and other nails off to save the fee at the salon.

I would try what one of the others suggested and soak your nails. Just make sure to use the right type of polish.

Or you could always go back to the salon and pay them about $3-$5 to take/change it for you.How can i remove nail polish from my salon fake nails ?
Oh dear, it must not have the smelly acetone in it. Get one of those jars %26amp; soak your nails in it. After you do that %26amp; get it off etc, you're gonna need to treat your hands to some extra pampering %26amp; moisturizing. Good luck.
Try soaking your nails in nail polish remover for a while-maybe that will work. I use salon nails all the time and I usually take of the polish with nail polish remover...I dont know why it is not working for you :(
make sure you use non-acetone remover. the regular remover will melt the acrylic from your nails. it's more gentle and and meant for fake nails.
regular nail polish remover SHOULD work. ask the nail tech you used.
soak them in the nail polish remover for about 5 min, then start wiping the polish off.

    hope i helped :)

If I take a shower, will it ruin my new hairstyle I got at the salon?

Such as the Controlled messy. If I take a shower, will it ruin my new hairstyle I got at the salon?
certainlyIf I take a shower, will it ruin my new hairstyle I got at the salon?
    YES!!
it depends like if you straighten it (not permanently) it could(probably) but well it could I'm sorry but well i can't know bout that
If you get your hair wet, it will ruin the style. However, you loosely tie your hair back and put a towel around your head, and that might keep it from getting wet. Just make sure not to put your head directly under the shower. You kind of have to stick your head out of the range of the water. You could also buy a shower cap at the store and use that.

I always skip a day of washing my hair when I get it done at the salon. They do such a good job and use amazing products, I want to keep it in the style for as long as I can. I usually do one of the above and it works for me.

Ohhh, you could also take a bath, rather then a shower. You're hair won't get wet that way.
if you dont it wont matter youll be nasty...and noone will get close enough to ask you';hey did ya get ya hair done
I almost never shower....I like to sit and bathe..guess I'm just lazy. But seriously, showering will def ruin a hairstyle. Even tying it up or using a shower cap, will cause it to droop and lose its body. Your best bet to get clean is to pin your hair up and take a cool bath or do a sponge bath.

If your hairstyle is for an event on the same day, you can always shower before the salon visit.

    2. rent depends on your country.

    3. Yes.

It depends on what salon you go to. Some salons are more expensive than others. I know one near my hoes that charges $30.How much does it cost in a salon to dye your entire head from dark brown to platinum blonde with brown bangs?
depends on where you go but at a nice salon it usually cost like 60-70 dollars.

What are the prices/ packages for tanning salon visits?

i know they very from store to store, but in general, what are some price ranges. What are the prices/ packages for tanning salon visits?
Girl, please, please listen. Try to refrain from the temporary gratification of getting an artifical tan now (which won't last that long) and think about how you want to look in 10 years. OH YEAH...you WILL get there, believe me:) Do you want to have WRINKLES and dark spots on your face? No. Do you want people to wonder why you aged prematurely? No.

And also..skin cancer. You don't even want to go there. You think it can't happen to you...I know somebody that is battling that now.

    Use make-up/blush..tan-color powder...

Do you have a business plan?

If not you need to go to SBA (Small Business Administration) web site and they will walk you through one and it is very enlightening.

Do you have a marketing plan and can you financially afford to carry through on it - with paying for ads, running specials, etc? There are tons of books in the library and on Amazon.com for marketing for small businesses and it all works the same basically - just applying the marketing 'ideas' to your business.

We have been in a small business (embroidery and hot pressing) for 16 yrs. The one thing that I've found is you have to market without let up. Even when you are busy or you feel you are 'too busy' you must continue to market.

Also you should be considering what your marketing target is. What age group? Sex? etc.

Also look for other avenues of income involving your business - maybe that would be having a nail person available or shampoos etc for sale there and so on. Maybe would you rent out stations to other hairdressers?

I am sure this won't 'appeal' to you but you could also ck out the funeral homes as we have a friend that does hair for the 'dead' and she makes a lot of money. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it but I don't think I could do it.

Also there is a good business in going to nursing homes and retirement homes to cut hair, give perms and sets as I know we pay $60 per month to have my mother-in-laws hair done (2x per month - so she pays 30.00 every 2 weeks.)

Really hope this helps you. You should also look carefully at the political situation at the moment and perhaps post pone opening your shop until you see who wins. I think we are in a recession at the moment and if taxes are raised as one candidate is pushing for - we will be in a depression before long, which might not be the ideal time to begin a new business. We are actually thinking of closing our business if BO wins as with the terrific tax hike that will happen when he rolls back the Bush tax cuts, more gov regulation and oversight of small businesses and also the health care that will become mandatory we don't think we can make any money. Health care just for ourselves and 2 employees now runs 1600 month and with his plan would nearly double for us so we are feeling pretty shakey. Just our opinion.

How often are you supposed to wash salon treated hair? Got gorgeous results, but a week later they were gone!

Hey, I'm new to this forum, but I figured I'd see what you guys have to say. About a week ago I went to a high end salon and paid some big bucks to get gorgeous blonde and red streaks. It looked fantastic. A few days later, I washed my hair and a lot of the red washed out. My parents said that you're not supposed to wash your hair for a week after you get it dyed. Afterwards they admitted that they were relying on hair product information of /their/ time, and that it was probably more reliable these days. Regardless, I just washed my hair a second time, this time I used a special ';Red protection'; shampoo and conditioner. Now all of the color is gone! I don't know what to do, and I've never had this problem before. Anyone have any advice? How often are you supposed to wash salon treated hair? Got gorgeous results, but a week later they were gone!
How did they do the red part? If they just did it with red color it shouldn't have washed out like that. If they bleached it first (highlighting cream) then put the red on, it's going to wash out no matter what. When hair is highlighted first, it is causing a great deal of damage--it leaves the hair very open and porous, which will cause whatever color you put over it to fade away VERY quickly. How often are you supposed to wash salon treated hair? Got gorgeous results, but a week later they were gone!
Go back to this salon, show them that this red color is gone, and raise holy hell!

If they cannot give you permanent results, demand all of your money back!

That is ridiculous!!!!! ';If'; the color was temporary, they should have told you.

  • How much would it cost to dye my dark brown hair blonde at a salon?

I need to know...............PLEASE!!!!!!How much would it cost to dye my dark brown hair blonde at a salon?
$50 to $250 depending on where you go and also depending on how dark brown your hair is.. they won't dye it, they'll bleach it with on the scalp bleach if your natural hair is really dark... (really bad for your hair)

i would recommend having it highlighted instead of bleached. don't let them 'pull it through the cap' have it foiled instead. it's easier to have it redone and is a lot less stressful on your hair.

I've always had problems with my dry hair, but I started using Jonathan brand leave in conditioner and Redken brand shampoo and conditioner (they have a line for mositurizing and repair), and I found a HUGE improvement.
Don't choose drugstore hair products - not even if it says it's salon quality. Personally, I use ISO. I dye my hair often, so it is always really dry. ISO's Hydra Care stuff works really well. It's a bit pricey and you get a 2L bottle of it, but hey, it's better springing the extra change on something good then to always be buying bottles of crap stuff.

    Are bridal gown salons allowed...?

Are bridal gown salons allowed to not tell you who the designer of a dress is? I tried a dress on and asked who the designer was and they refused to tell me. I can understand not taking picures, but this seems ridiculous to me. Plus I'm not going to part with thousand of dollars if I don't know exactly what I am buying.

Are they allowed to do this? Are bridal gown salons allowed...?
I'm sure they can refuse to tell you, however you can look at the tag. If there isn't a tag, this should raise an alarm. I've read about stores removing the tags. This is actually illegal. If they have removed them, they should be reported and you should definitely not buy anything from them. Are bridal gown salons allowed...?
it's not like it's necessarily illegal, you can't report them to the police, but I'm sure the designer of the dress wouldn't appreciate not getting credit! don't buy your dress from them, that's not a good business practice. also report them to the BBB- they could be selling knock off dresses at designer prices which is a bait and switch type of situation the BBB would love to know about I'm sure. the BBB or chamber of commerce in your area will know the most recommended best bridal shops where you live.
Its their business so I would guess they could do whatever they want with regards to the information.

I think their fear is that you will take that information and then order the gown off the internet rather than from them.

Perhaps you could say it as you have here ';I want to know the designer of the gown, I would still order it from you, but I'm not going to order it unless I know where it comes from';.
I am pretty sure as private businesses they can do whatever they want in that regard. If they tell you the designer and you leave and find it elsewhere, they have no protection for the time and energy they may have already put into you. i think it is stupid, but I understand from a business perspective why they would do it.
It's illegal. It is also illegal to rip out the tags. They are not allowed because of deceptive business practice laws. Report them to the better business bureau and find another salon to go to. They can do a bait and switch or sell you a knock off.
Well, of course, they could be knock-offs. If you're truly after a specific designer, just go elsewhere and pay the big bucks for the name.
I would think not.....when you have a chance sneek a peek at the tag or use your cell phone camera. It's your money and if your spending that much; I would find a salon that will cater to YOU! Congrats on you wedding
I would get a little bit more info on the dress becuase they could be giving you a knock off of a knock of and charging you designer price!!! Congrats on the wedding
no, they should give you all the info you require, you pay for anything it suddenly becomes YOUR business.

are Cheap Salons great for BROW WAXING? one of my friend's sis got her's done where I'm gonna go tommorow and they nearly waxed her whole eyebrow off!?Are cheap salons great for..?
No. NONONO! For eyebrows, people should always go to a GOOD salon, especially one with a trusted hairstylist who can recommend a good waxer. Cheap salons are good for basic nails and trims, but that's about it.

I hardly ever recommend going with something more expensive, since I'm a dirt broke college kid, but this is one thing I am dead certain on...trust me, many bad experiences. Are cheap salons great for..?
The same thing can happy at a pricey salon. All depends on the person doing the work.
Then it wouldn't make sense to go.
Didn't you just answer your own question???? Please read what you wrote and really read the last part!! NOOOOOO don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheap salons are to be used only as a last resort!! (or if you don't care what you look like when they are done with you)

  • New york salons...?

if i go to a hair salon in new york without an idea for what i want my hair to look like, can the stylist tell by looking at me what will look good on me? and would they be able to do that without a picture?New york salons...?
I would go to a hair stylist and tell her/him everything you do and don't like about your hair and ask their thoughts on what they think would look best. A good stylist at a good salon realy will have a lot of training and a ton of great ideas because they learned how to do more hair cuts then we could think of on our own! The girl who does my hair does a wonderful job and my hair suits me more then it ever has in my entire life.

It totally depends based on the hairdresser, regardless of location. I go a small beauty salon in Connecticut because my hairdresser does the best job I've had! But yes, if you're going narrow it down, a higher-end hair salon is your best bet with no picture. Call ahead to salons and ask about the creativity of the employees.

Also, on hairapprentice.com, you can sign up to have cosmetology students do your hair for really cheap. Sometimes they advertise specific hairstyles like the bob for instance. Maybe you will find ideas on there.
you would have to go to a really good hairdresser, and it would cost you a lot more money but it would be worth it in the end.

In your opinion, whats the best tanning salon?

Im looking to find a good tanning salon thats not way overpriced. I live on the East Coast (DC area) so salons in this area would be preferable. Thanks! In your opinion, whats the best tanning salon?

If your salon is going to cater to all hair types then I would say anywhere where there is not a salon that will do ethnic hair.

    Fiesta Hair Salons..?

Has any girls been to this salon? if so, are they good at doing hair the way you want them to?Fiesta Hair Salons..?
It is a chain and turn over can be frequent. They have all passed the state so they should be qualified. Like everything though some are better than others. If you find a hairdresser you like at one of them you are allowed to ask for her though you may have to wait otherwise you get who is available at the time.Fiesta Hair Salons..?
they go through a lot of workers

    because it is a chain

so if you go and find someone you really like get their number so when you go back and they are not there you can contact them to find out where they are now working
